PT GERBANG CAHAYA UTAMA (GCU) was established on August 14th, 1998 in Jakarta and commenced commercial operations in February 1999, seizing the opportunity presented by the government's liberalization of trade in the agricultural sector, which included the soybean products previously managed solely by The Indonesia Logistics Bureau (BULOG) until the end of 1997. GCU swiftly recognized the immense prospects in the soybean trade business and began importing soybeans from the United States. In 2016, GCU expanded its distribution network to include white crystal sugar sourced from BULOG and other sugar factories. Moreover, in 2017, GCU, in collaboration with its subsidiary PT Karya Prima Organik, introduced the Palata Trademark Natural Preservative Tofu as a healthy alternative to the formalin commonly used by tofu craftsmen. Currently, GCU has established six branches across Indonesia, strategically located in Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Medan, Bandar Lampung, and Makassar.
